Sugarloaf Mtn (3,965 ft)

Take I-26 to US 64 at Hendersonville but exit east (exit 18A) for Bat Cave. Drive 7 miles to Edneyville and
turn right at Gilliam Mountain Road (before the post office and Eastern Continental Divide). Take this road
to a stop sign where the road to the left is signed as Sugarloaf Mountain Road. Follow this road maybe
three miles through Mills Gap to the end of the pavement.
Bear left and drive several more miles to gate at 3,920 feet.
Park so as not to block road (difficult) and walk road a half-mile to the summit. FAA installation fence
encloses a white rocket-ship look alike but BM Sugarload (1975) is just outside the fence on side where the
road reaches the installation.
A rock farther up the along the fence is about the same height as the ground inside.
