Rutherford County Highpoint Trip Report

Date: June 8, 2006

Left Raleigh with my dog at about 7:30 am, and headed for the Rutherford, NC HP. I made the mistake of trusting Google Earth directions and it cost me. The directions tried to force me to drive my poor Camry through an ATV(!) track. After looking at the map, I found my way to the gated road described by Ron, Trapper and Roxanne.

The house at the left is unoccupied according to neighbors, so I parked next to the barbecue pit and walked the short distance to the summit.

Good views, but spoiled a bit by heat haze.

Hike statistics: 1.3 miles one-way, 220 feet of gain round-trip. Summit elevation 3,965 feet, prominence 1,745+ feet.
