Talk to Mr. Oakland (the buffalo rancher who lives in the yellow house) before
trying to visit the four areas east of the highway. When the Bison cows have
just calved, it is better to approach BM Nebo from the east via Steve Weigem’s
property (701 523-4261) rather than upsetting the buffalo. Mr. Oakland is very
helpful and will tell you what to do.
I also approached the spot to the west (the area with the Braaten memorial on top)
from Mr. Oakland’s property. I got permission from the Braaten ranch to
visit their HP but it was closest to drive to an oil pumper just south of
Mr. Oakland’s house and then hike across the fields to the top.
