Sentinel Butte (BM 3,430 ft)

Date: September 4, 2003
Authors: Trapper Robbins and Roxanne Everett

From I-94, take exit 10 (set odometer to 0). Go south on gravel road to the town of Sentinel Butte. At the stop sign in town (1.9 miles), go straight (south) crossing the paved road and RR tracks. Sentinel Butte is directly in front of you. At 2.9 miles, go right on dirt Red Mills Road and continue south towards the butte. As road bends right (west) at 3.7 miles, go straight on unnamed road. Follow this road as it switchbacks up onto the butte. Park at 6.2 miles just past the red and white radio tower and near the cement memorial to Indians that scouted for the Sully Expedition (1864).

Walk the old track down to the saddle and up to the big flat CoHP area. We found the BM in the grass. Scenic area.

Round trip to BM is about 0.8 mile.
