Sargent County High Point Trip Report

Date: October 22, 2001
Author: Michael Schwartz

From ND 11, take CR 10 south, passing through Rutland, for 9.0 miles to the junction with CR 7. Go left (east) on CR 7 for 1.4 miles, and turn right (south) onto 139 Avenue SE. Go one mile, climbing, to the beginning of the jog to the right that marks the state line. See radio tower opposite, and you will have passed another tower en route, neither on the topo.

Head east along the south edge of the fenced pasture south of the tower. Staying south of the fence minimizes fence crossings along the way. Pass boundary marker at spot elevation 1714, in use as a fence post. Bypass the wet area shown on the topo, and from the far side, align yourself east-west by back-sighting along the fence at the state line. Soon pick up an inconspicuous, low rock wall crowned with bushes, that follows the state line. Be alert for cattle. When the state line crosses the ridge line that descends from the south, you're at the liner highpoint. Ten minute walk. Unposted. This highpoint was not available at 1:25,000 scale on Topozone.
