Sioux County High Point Trip Report

Best to combine this one with Thunder Hawk Butte, the highest in Corson County, SD. It is just over the state boarder and is clearly visible from the top of this HP. See Mike Schwartz's trip report for that one.

To get the highest in Sioux County get yourself to the ND/SD state line where ND49 & SD73 merge into one. Where this happens, head west on an unnamed state line road. After going 1.7 miles the main road you were on veers south toward Thunder Hawk, South Dakota but you want to continue straight on a road that continues on westward. At 0.3 mile later, the road veers to your right and heads north. Follow it north until it crests at mile 1.5 from where you started.

The HP from here is due west and is the bump about 1/2 mile west from you. We trudged out to the HP through open grassland and to the top of obvious rise/bump. Easy hike.
