This updates my January 2000 report. Once on Mountain Avenue, passenger cars
can drive comfortably as far as an abandoned blue house in a clearing.
Beyond that point, the road has deteriorated, and several large rocks await the bottom
of your car. Unless you have a high clearance vehicle, I recommend parking
there and hiking to the highpoint, which takes no more than 25 minutes each way.
The parking area is very shabby looking, but no one has bothered my car on
several visits.
