Gloucester County High Point Trip Report

A new personal standard for lowest-elevation COHP I've ever done is also the gimme of the day, contending with Hudson County at the opposite corner of the state for NJ's easiest.

From the north, you would want to get off the Turnpike at Exit 3 and get from NJ 73 to NJ 42 (Black Horse Pike) and take that out to Cross Keys Road. From there it's a short drive past the Home Depot to Cross Keys, a hamlet whose name is rather obvious from its being a six-way intersection.

From the south, it's a bit longer. Get off the Pike at Exit 2 and follow US 322 east through Mullica Hill to Glassboro and Rowan College. (This is the site of a famous 1967 summit conference between LBJ and then-Soviet foreign minister Alexei Kosygin, since it was halfway between NY and Washington. It was simply Glassboro State at the time.) Past there, look for a New Road going off to the left at a traffic light. This is the county road that will take you several miles out to Cross Keys.

However you arrive, from the Cross Keys intersection follow Mike Schwartz's directions. Be sure to remember that the Calvary Assembly of God Church is on the south side of the road. The bump is not immediately obvious, and you may think the white church on the north just past the intersection is the place. I believe the highest ground is to be found along the edge of the church's parking lot, about three-quarters of the way in from the road.
