Hunterdon County High Point Trip Report

Date: November 10, 2001
Author: Fred Lobdell

Previous reports are still valid. The northern area, BM "Smith", is still in woods, but it will probably be developed sooner or later. Access may be a problem in the future.

When we did the southern area, it was getting dark, and the county park across the road from the HP (the entrance of which was where we parked) was just being closed by Mr. John Trontis, the Director of Hunterdon County Parks. He informed us that the county owned the HP area beyond the ridge crest, and that the boundary was down the far hill side. He doesn't want hunting on the land (it's supposed to be a wildlife refuge) but had no problem with our hiking to the HP. It's nice to confirm that this is public land, and accessible.
