1 area 1500 ft south of Diamond Hill Church (560+ ft)

From westbound I-78, take exit 43 onto Diamond Hill Road northbound. Go to second light at Mountain Avenue. Turn left onto Mountain Ave, and quickly turn left onto Grassman Place. Take Grassman uphill to Killarney Drive, and park opposite #185. Walk between #185 and #195 on New Jersey American Water Company easement/driveway to water tank. Highest natural ground is on south side of tank.

Notice nearby house to the south that appears to sit on equally high ground. Walk through woods to house, or drive/walk around the corner to Pinewood Crescent cul-de-sac to front of house, which is #30.

If approaching this area from I-78 eastbound, take exit 40, go north on Hillcrest Road, County 531, about one mile to Mountain Ave. Go right on Mountain, this intersection being 2.5 and 2.6 miles southwest of Grassman Place and Diamond Hill Road, respectively.

Note: The current (1981) Chatham 7.5' topo does not show any of the streets in the vicinity of the first area.

1 area 3/4 mile southeast of Hillview School (560+ ft)

From Mountain Ave./Diamond Hill Rd. intersection, go northeast on Mountain 1.2 miles to right turn onto Murray Hill Boulevard. Murray Hill ends at Governor Livingston High School. Park in lot and walk northeast past football field to baseball diamond. Highest point is at pitcher's mound. I saw a fox here early in the morning, a pleasant surprise in such a built-up area.
