Lyon County Highpoint Trip Report

northeast ridge of Middle Sister (10,560+ ft)

Date: July 15, 2007
Author: Rich Wilson

We drove in from the Antelope Valley to the west via Risue Canyon and then took the standard route from the corral. We followed the continuing jeep road for about a mile and a half to the crest mentioned in previous reports.

From there, Middle Sister is clearly visible about 1.6 airline miles away. We went up the obvious drainage, crossed the sage meadow, and then gained the ridge. After bagging Middle Sister proper, we headed down the northeast ridge, crossing the Von Schmidt Line, and then the state line, before arriving at the 10 foot outcrop with the register.

It was a beautiful day as cloud cover moved in keeping temperatures down; although we got rained on pretty good the last half mile down.
