I did this differently from Mike Schwartz. I started the hike 2.9 miles southeast of the Carrollton-Allegany town line on the Chipmunk Road. Drove short way up grassy track to berm and parked.

Up road-tracks-trail to Clare Ridge and turned left. Climbed up over PT 2362, then north over narrow ridge, then northwest up past "house sized" conglomerate boulders to the summit. Found Clare BM with witness post minus sign.

Went off the mountain directly southwest, picking up ATV trails and a finally dirt road coming out on Chipmunk Road by small lumber mill 1.8 miles southeast of township line or 1.1 miles northwest of my truck. The mill is 3.5 miles from the T that Chipmunk Road makes with CR 30 to the northwest. The road by the mill has to be the one Fallesen talks about and that certainly would be the easiest and quickest way to the summit.

Trip statistics: 1.75 hours duration, 3.5 miles, 1000 feet elevation gain.
