Chemung County Highpoint Trip Report

The directions to the Chemung county highpoint described in Gary Fallesen's book
are very good. I followed Route 414 from Corning toward Watkins Glen.
Post Creek Road is about half way between Corning and Watkins. From Corning,
Post Creek Road is a right turn. Follow Post Creek Road as described in the Fallesen book.
After making the turn at Smith's Corners and traveling the half mile,
there is now a newly built home at that corner leading to the highpoint.
The land is posted no trespassing. There was no one home when I was there.
I did not trespass. I did go back toward Smith Corners about 200 - 300 yards and
climbed the hill where trees have been cleared for a gas line.
I went toward the highpoint but called it close enough as I did not have
permission to be on the land. Not much of a view -- all wooded.
