From the Dutchess NY HP, continue north on the South Taconic Trail (white blazed and very easy to follow). Just before you get to Roberts Brook the trail does some serious descending. I walked all the way to the top of Alendar then walked back just to ensure I got the point.

Went back to the car the same way.
