Tassel Hill (1,940+ ft)

From NY 12 in Waterville, go east on White Street about 2 1/4 miles to a left fork onto Tassel Hill Road. This road gets very rutted and rough, and will test your nerves, but could be driven in a passenger car all the way (1.7 miles) to the flat summit. From here, Bob Packard bushwhacked south 3/4 mile along the ridge line to the southern area and back. I opted to drive to a point southwest of the southern area and bushwhack directly to it. Packard probably made the right choice.

one point 3000' south of Tassel Hill (1,940+ ft)

My route to the southern area: From the junction of White Street and Tassel Hill Road, continue straight (east) on White Street another 0.9 mile to a wet grassy woods road on the left, with room to park on the right. Bushwhack up this "road" and anything else you can find that goes uphill through a lot of briars and blow-down to a viewless summit. This was slow going and not worth the slight savings in distance from Packard's route.
