The HP of Staten Island is a wooded hill in a residential area in the middle of the island, just south of the State Island Expressway (I-278).

From Brooklyn, take the Verrazano Narrows Bridge west and from I-95 in New Jersey take the Goethals Bridge east. The Verrazano toll was a hefty $7. From either direction take the State Island Expressway to exit 12 for Todt Hill Road - Slosson Road. Go south on Slosson Road for one half mile passing through four lights. The road turns into Todt Hill Road and ascends the wooded hill. At Ocean Terrace, turn right and go one block. Then turn left on Bogert Avenue and go two blocks. Then turn left on Foster Avenue and go one block to the dead end. The end is a gate to a pipeline right of way through the woods.

Walk this going slightly uphill for a hundred yards or so and watch for the huge radio tower on the left. The high ground seems to be at the edge of the clearing for the tower on the south side. Watch for briars. Todt Hill Road is busy with fast moving cars so avoid walking it's minimal shoulders. The gravel road to the tower is off Todt Hill Road but it has a serious cement curb that will cause problems for low clearance vehicles.
