Sullivan County High Point Trip Report

The previous write-ups by Dan Case and Michael Schwartz are good, but I have a simpler drive-in route to the trailhead. This worked well for me and I found it after missing the turn to Lily Pond Road described by Dan Case. (Lily Pond Road is only 0.2 mile north of the exit if you want to go this way.)

Alternate driving directions: On Interstate 17 use exit 98 for Parksville and drive north on route 84 for 7.2 miles to a stop sign and turn left to Willowemoc. In about a hundred feet, turn left again at another stop sign. Follow this road for 3.6 miles and turn right on Fish Hatchery Road (signed). Pass the hatchery in 1.9 miles and then at 2.7 miles turn left on Beech Mountain Road which is dirt. Drive about 0.3 mile on this and park at the marked trailhead for Frick Pond.

The hike goes well on the old road and up through the forest. I did not find the clump of dirt or rock by the fallen tree after an extensive search around the high point.
