From the town of Granite at the junctions of OK 6 and OK 9, head west on OK 9 a little under 3 miles to a paved road signed "Rock Cemetery". Turn right (north) for 1.5 miles (passing the cemetery at 1.0 mile) to a dirt road on the right marked by two tires painted white at a cattle grate. Drive in about a half-mile. The road leads to the top of Walsh Mountain but it will likely be gated and locked.

After encountering said locked gate, I asked at the nearby residence for permission. A kind woman, Fay Haynes, gave me permission to hike it. The quality of the road after the gate was poor in places. From the gate it's about 1/2 mile one way with about 570 feet of gain- by no means a flattie. Wildflowers made for a pretty hillside. The benchmark is easily found amid the usual towers and buildings.

Ms. Haynes was extremely friendly. She was slightly hesitant at first but she later explained they have periodic problems with trespassers. We ended up chatting for 15 minutes before and after my hike, so build this time into your itinerary! The land and the mountain has been in her family since the 1870s.
