A high-desert ridge overlooking Goose Lake.
About 5 miles north of Lakeview on U.S. 395, turn east on SR 140. In 5 or 6
miles, turn south on FR 3915, which will lose its paving at a 4-way
intersection a little over 3 miles in. Continue straight on 3915 to Willow
Creek (there's a campground here) and turn right on FR 4011. Follow this as
far as you can up the hill to the Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail
trailhead on your left just short of road's end. Without 4WD, you will
likely end up walking some of the road.
Hike the trail less than a mile to a point where it starts heading down hill
consistently. Bear right up the slope, and find the summit. Nice views of
Goose Lake and environs.
