From PA 997, 1.3 miles NE of the PA 696 junction, take Three Square Hollow Road north. Bear left after 1.1 miles. The road is also signed as Clay Hill Road. At 2.0 miles, at a junction, it turns to gravel and is signed for 3 Square Hollow Road. (The road signed with the number "3" leads back to PA 997 at a point 1.7 miles NE of the original turn-off for Three [spelled out] Square Hollow Road.) At 4.6 miles, bear sharply left at Cowpens Road junction. At 6.3 miles, the signed Blue Mountain Road, not passable by passenger cars, heads SW along the ridge crest. It eventually crests, drops down into a shallow but obvious col, then climbs to point 2270. Highest ground is very near the road, and the Perry County line and high point are in the woods to the right. The hike to the summit on Blue Mountain Road took about 35 minutes at a brisk pace.
