Date: December 28, 2001
Author: Levi Foust

Advisory: There are alternative routes to this highpoint which may be more desired.

Starting point: intersection of routes 30 and 711 in Ligonier. Take 711 North for 11.6 miles. Turn left at Mirror Lake, onto SR 1006. Take SR 1006 for 4.5 miles to its intersection with route 259. Turn right onto route 259. Go 1.1 miles on route 259, crossing over the Conemaugh River into Indiana County. Take the first left onto Front Street (no road sign). Follow Front Street to its end at a yellow gate beneath the railroad tracks. There is plenty of room to park.

Hike the railroad tracks for about 0.5 mile to a few paces beyond Roaring Run. Turn north into the woods for 100 to 200 feet, meeting up with an ATV trail. Follow this trail (shown on topo map) to the northwest until it veers to the south of the highpoint. Head north (or northwest, depending on when you leave the trail) to the highpoint.

The round trip hike is 3.5 - 4.0 miles, but allow at least 1.5 hours.
