North Knob on Elk Hill (2,693 ft)

From the main entrance for the Elk Hill ski area, drive uphill 0.2 miles on PA 374 to gated dirt road on the left. Hike the road to the multi-towered summit. USGS BM Elk 2 1959 is located near a witness post that is mounted on a telephone pole. Reference BM #1, at the base of the former lookout tower, is dated 1929 and marked elevation 2,693'. Elk Hill is the highest point in eastern PA, with the nearest higher ground in the state over 150 miles southwest.
