Los Piños Mountain Trip Report

4,805 ft

The hike began around dawn with the temperature in the thirties by my estimation. Excellent vertical progress resulted in a one hour time to the summit that included a microwave relay facility within a fenced area.

The highest point was a boulder just north of the fenced area - and I ate my snack there while enjoying a gorgeous day in late Fall San Diego County. Corte Madera was just to the northwest and some 200 feet lower.

On descent along the jeep trail I picked up a sheet of ice from one of many ponds of water in the road - evidently it was below freezing the previous night.
