Cherokee County High Point Trip Report

Thicketty Mtn

Date: November 18, 2000
Author: Edward Earl

This one I Earlized to 500 feet elevation gain. We started at the point where SSR 61 crosses Thicketty Creek. My father and I started walking here while my mother drove to the summit and waited for us.

From the starting point we walked a short distance east, turned north on Cash Road which became gravel part way up the 1.5 miles to its end. From here we turned left 1/2 mile to Thicketty Mountain Road, which is gravel and heads the remaining 1/2 mile to the top. The summit area includes a small radio tower with a razor wire fence around it. A bench mark set in concrete sits outside the fence.
