Maine 2013 Convention County Highpointer Activities
Dave Covill has assembled three days of county highpointing in Maine
during the Highpointers Club convention.

Wednesday July 17 - Penobscot COHP - East Turner Mtn
5:30 a.m. - Meet in lobby of host hotel, Katahdin Inn, Millinocket.
Carpool half hour to Baxter State Park.
This county is key to completing Maine, trail and bushwhack, 6 miles one way,
mostly on park trails but then a serious forest bushwhack, elevation gain 1,500 feet.
We've contacted the park rangers about our plans.
Thursday July 18 - Washington COHP - Pleasant Mtn
7:00 a.m. - Meet in lobby of host hotel, Katahdin Inn, Millinocket.
Carpool for couple hour drive to this COHP.
Moderate bushwhack, 2 miles one way, elevation gain 1,000 feet.
OPTIONS:
1) After the hike, Dave heads east to West Quoddy Head (farthest east point of USA).
2) After the hike, John heads south to Acadia National Park.
3) Around 9 a.m. - Leave hotel, driving directly to West Quoddy Head to meet Dave at 11:30 AM.
4) Around 11 a.m. - Leave hotel, driving directly from Millinocket to Acadia National Park.
1:00 p.m. - John ought to arrive at Cadillac Mtn Visitor Center.
3:30 p.m. - Dave ought to arrive at Cadillac Mtn Visitor Center
(if running late he'll go directly to the lobster pound).
5:00 p.m. - all cars convene promptly at a local lobster pound for dinner (limited seating).
Friday July 19 - Aroostook COHP - Peaked Mtn
7:00 a.m. - Meet in lobby of host hotel, Katahdin Inn, Millinocket.
Carpool 2 to 3 hours north (maybe more if we approach from the north).
Moderate bushwhack, 2 miles one way, elevation gain 1,000 feet.
