The road was posted for "no access without permit" by Coal Creek Mining at 865-435-7158
but I continued to the shops and talked to a mechanic who said that was the "land company"
and he thought ATVs needed permits but not cars. No coal trucks on Saturday but consequently
a grader was working, leaving rocks and windrow in road.
There was a second (open) gate just above Grassy Gap. The final side road to the summit
had fresh crushed stone and was better than the main road.
Total distance to summit about 5.5 miles.
