Giles County High Point Trip Report

(Also consult the report for Maury County TN as these two counties share some confusing highpoint areas.)

On the map it looked like access was not a problem with these, but in reality the opposite was true. The first area is right by the "F" on Flanigan Hill on the map. A house sits right by the road, and I hollered a bit, but it seemed no one was home. I'd wandered to the back yard before the homeowner emerged, a friendly black gentleman. We talked about the confusing county lines in the area, and I wandered around some more behind the residence.

The next area is near the right edge of the map. It has a trailer home on it. It looked like a least 4 adults lived in the trailed. A man in the front yard told me the HP was by a trash sack in the front yard. I stepped over there, then left. Not exactly the scenic HP of the trip.

The final area of the four did not have an unexpected residence on it, so I breathed a sigh of relief. It looked like the HP was south of the road, so I parked just off the road, crossed the fence to the south, and walked in about 100'. Think I was pretty close (on top of ?) the HP when a vehicle came along the dirt road and stopped. I immediately walked over there, the driver asked "do you know you are on private property ?" so I hopped over the fence, back on to public property. I told him about my search for county HP, but this did not seem to cheer him up a lot.

In any event, he headed on his way, and I decided to curtail my explorations of the Giles county HP. There is a pretty good chance that this area contains the Giles county HP, but it would take some surveying to be sure.
