Grundy County High Point Trip Report

Date: June 13, 1999

Three counties and 3 areas are found in the high land here, and I started with the lookout tower on the area entirely in Grundy county. Once up this tower it looked like higher ground was off to the NW, and I wandered over there. A cement cable anchor is found to the west of a tower over here, and looks to be near the HP. Back at the lookout tower I struck up a conversation with a resident, and he showed me where a bashed BM was located.

Finally it was off to the "three cornered monstrosity" area, which is now occupied by the Laager CM Youth Camp, established 1992. The county line is marked on the paved road, but I did not spot any markers or fences for the three county lines here [Grundy, Marion, Sequatchie].

I paced off 500' towards the tri-county junction, which may be very close to a latrine. A caretaker was getting the camp ready for the kids that would be visiting, and we struck up a conversation. He did not know much more about the county line locations than I did, so I wandered around a bit more and called it a day.
