Lewis County High Point Trip Report

Date: April 5, 2003

We repeated the Lewis county highpoints after a trip to Natural Bridge in Wayne county to finish a cave map. We hiked the route Jon Mann and I previously did, but this time there was no thunderstorm. The road seems more rutted, but I got to park within sight of our parking spot from last time. No Trespassing signs along the turnoff and first part of this road are for land along the road, and it is fine to drive this road to reach the Willamette Public Hunting Area.

The hike was longer than I remembered, and it is nice that Alexandra can't look at a map and see how long is left to go, but I showed her how close together the last two areas were, and she said it would be easy. We saw several lizards, three of which I caught (2 on one tree, a skink and a swift).

I noted several of the spots where I hid from lightning briefly during the deluge with Jon. Blackberries and briars are still there on the third spot, but some open areas make it reasonable.
