Brazos County High Point Trip Report

From Normangee, proceed 24.2 miles southwest on "OSR". Turn left at Castensen Road and, although not
shown on the topo, the road climbs to the hilltop. The highpoint was difficult to discern but it appeared to
be off to the right at 0.8 mile along the road. Another tenth of mile down the road, at mailbox 7185,
the adjoining fields had several hillocks which I explored on the off chance one should later proved to be the
highest area. This entire open field was undergoing fence construction so future visitors may find
themselves locked out of these pastures.
Retreat back to OSR. Between Castensen Road and Sasta (Ranch/Box-S Ranch Rd.), 0.5 mile toward Normangee,
is a nondescript dirt road leading over a cattle guard. Mailbox 6112 is directly across the street.
Follow this road noting the second high area is the hill directly to the front of you. The house at the
end belongs to Dr. Rice who was not at home. Neighbors gave me this information and suggested getting
permission from him before climbing the hill.
