Carson County High Point Trip Report

Author: David Olson

One large area at the NW corner of the Pantex nuclear bomb property. The higher ground looked to be NE of the corner, unfenced. The Pantex quadrant was fenced, 4-strand barbed wire with wire reinforcement element halfway between posts -- I have seen such elsewhere.

There are lots of "Danger," unexploded small arms shells, signs on fence and several "Pantex" signs. That area is planted in winter wheat. I hiked across the corner as part of my gridding of the HP area. There was up to 5" of snow scattered on the ground. 3595+'.

A rancher stopped and asked if I needed help. When I told him that right here is the Carson Co. HP he said, "I'll be darned."
