We camped at Pine Spring Campground on Friday night, trying to sleep with the
din of a college crowd not far enough away. Then, at about 2:30 AM,
another group showed up and continued their loud talking as they walked right past our camp;
they never did quiet down all night long.
The hike was great but quite hot on the descent. I was excited to spot a
Hepatic Tanager in a high, green hollow not far from the summit area.
After returning to the rig, we headed north into New Mexico on our way to the
Ruidoso area for our next objective, Sierra Blanca.
