Eastland County High Point Trip Report
northwest of Sabanno Community (1,980+ ft)

From the intersections of FM-569 and TX-206 in southwestern Eastland county, go north very briefly on
FM-569 past the cemetery and turn left onto the first local (dirt) road encountered. Follow the "main"
route, first west then north, then northwest and finally north again, parking at a gate just north of spot
elevation 1,798 along the road. The map shows another road to lead in northwesterly toward the single
highpoint area. There are no restrictive signs on the fencing or at the gate.
Follow the road. It comes to a Y-junction, not shown on the map, after about 0.2 mile. Stay straight.
The road rises and becomes more eroded, and finally comes to a Y-junction with 3 choices
(a Ψ junction?) Follow the left-most road as it curls around the base of hill 1976.
The road reaches a saddle between hill 1976 on the east and the highpoint on the west.
Hike up the easy grassy slopes, with some minor tree thickets, to gain the flattish highpoint area.
There is a fence and a cleared area at roughly the county line. Walk the area a bit.
