North Franklin Mountain

The state park access, on the west side of the mountain, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with later hours on weekends in summer. Entrance fee is $3/person, and they provide a trail map with 500-foot contours (if the booth is open - weekends only). Per the park signs, the peak round-trip is 9.2 miles; it's about 2500 feet of round-trip gain (a few drops on the way in). The trailhead parking is at the end of the first paved right turn past the entrance booth; it's well-signed at junctions.
