Grimes County High Point Trip Report

This highpoint is 0.7 mile south of H30 on Satcher Road. This intersection is located: (1) approximately 20
miles west of Huntsville; (2) approximately 4.5 miles east of Shiro; (3) exactly 2.8 miles east of Big Lake Creek; and
(4) north of Montgomery County highpoint via Bays Chapel Road, Pool Road and Hoke Road to
H30, thence left (west) 1.0 mile to Satcher Road.
The road system depicted on the topo no longer matches reality. As you proceed south on Satcher Road
(I believe this is the correct name) at 0.4 mile on the right is a large iron gate which leads to the highpoint but
is locked. Continue down the main road to 0.7 mile from H30. A road extending to this point is not shown
on the topo. Park and proceed up the hill to the right where you will come upon an abandoned house,
an occupied house (no one was at home) and, further on, some sheds and another abandoned house.
This appeared to be the highest area.
