Grand County Highpoint Trip Report

Another attempt, new vendetta peak. I am now 0 for 2 on Mount Waas. Last year
I got rained out. This time I had great weather. I chose to retry the Miner's
Basin route, following the road up and over the ridge and down into Batchelor
Basin as described in High in Utah (HIU). I walked to the road's end.
HIU vaguely suggests "finding a route up the gully". Here I had no luck.
I worked my way up a scree/brush slope to some small cliffs, following some tracks here
and there. I got cliffed out about 500 feet up, then spooked myself trying to
manage the scree coming down. I explored around the base for possible cairns or
trails but found nothing. Frustrated, I conceded to Mount Waas a second time
and hiked out.
