Clarke County Highpoint Trip Report

two areas on Blue Ridge, one with BM Paris 1935 (1,920+ ft)
Dale Millsap's directions will get you there, with one exception. After turning
east onto VA 55, it is 1.3 miles to the turn onto SSR 638, rather than the 0.5
miles given in his report. All other cumulative mileages given after that need
to be increased by 0.8 miles. While wandering the area at the tri-county point,
I found a VA Wildlife Management Area sign and some blazed trees,
which apparently mark a county line but I wasn't sure which line I found as my GPS was
in one of its moods. Good faith effort indicated. I had an extended encounter
with a hermit thrush along the access road.
The second, northern area is 0.2 mile north along Fire Trail Road,
and is well described by Ryan Bowles' report.
