Falls Church City Highpoint Trip Report

Because I live in the area, I was aware of a fact that may not necessarily be known about the City of Falls Church. It owns property outside the city limits. And this property is higher than the accepted city HP. So, just to cover my bases, and because it was on the way anyway, I completed it.

From the Arlington County HP, go back to Williamsburg Boulevard and turn right. Williamsburg will eventually go under I-66 and become West Street when it gets into the City of Falls Church. Turn right on Oak (2nd right after the light at Great Falls Road) and take it to the Mount Daniel School at the top of the hill. Go around the school to the left, through the playground and back along the chain link fence (I presumed the property line ended close enough to there.) If you are going to this one, I strongly suggest you do NOT do it during normal school days and hours. Also, do not be fooled by the map and think you will be able to come up behind the school or you will be forced to scale the chain link fence.

Then back into the car, down the hill, and a right back onto West Street Cross over Route 7 (a.k.a. Broad Street) and make very certain you are in the left lane at the light! Eventually turn left onto Poplar Drive at the bottom of the hill. Number 303 is a lovely white house on the right at the obvious top of the hill. Another touch and go since there was nobody home (or at least nobody answered the knock.)
