Lee County High Point Trip Report

I found the hp and all three trip reports very interesting. I followed Ken Oeser's directions and appreciated the added comments of Fred Lobdell and Ryan Bowles. What got me is that this hp can be Martinized if you are willing to drive the paved Black Mountain Road for 0.8 miles and turn sharply left onto the road you meet at the saddle southeast of The Doubles.

The logging roads were in great shape all the way to the hp. Ken mentions the logging road going southeast, but this connects to another good road with a gas pipeline beside it going southwest. I met locals out there in a pickup (no 4WD) collecting medicinal roots. They said people drive out there all the time and the coal company turns a blind eye. Remember, you are against the rules for only 1.6 miles.

Trip statistics: 2 hours, 4 miles, 400 feet of gain.
