Mill Mountain - USGS BM (1,740+ ft)

Mill Mountain looms over Roanoke, with a huge, illuminated, five-pointed star on its summit.
From downtown Roanoke, pick up VA 116 south and/or follow the blue-green signs for Mill Mountain Zoo and Star.
Follow the signs to the city park and summit. The high point is either a rock outcrop adjacent to the
parking lot, or at a brick building next to the microwave tower. It also appears that there's direct access to
the park from the Blue Ridge Parkway, entering the park about halfway up the summit road.
