Sussex County Highpoint Trip Report

This one is going to go away before too long. Sand and gravel mining operations in the area and Sussex County does not have a lot of prominence, so get it while the getting is good.

From I-95, exit 31 (VA 40 west), go 3.6 miles and turn left onto VA 681 (Concord-Sapony Road). Take this to 12.6 to Route 619 at Concord Methodist Church. The rest of the driving is obvious.

I came at the southern and central points from the south. Did not find the 253 BM. It may have been on the northeast side of the road but is probably gone. I thought the HP of the southern area was either right at the house or just into the woods across the road. For the middle area, I thought the HP was on the east side of the area. Getting through to the north area was a problem, since the road was blocked with earth moving equipment. Drove back and came in the road near the large building located south-southeast of the northern area, which is now a parking lot. Asked directions of one of the workers and made sure to walk back to my car over what looked to be highest spot.
