City boundaries have expanded south, with the previous 1,740+ foot area at WGS84 (38.05220° N, 78.88020° W) no longer supporting the highest ground. The traditional USGS topographic chart does not display this shift.

The new highpoint at WGS84 (38.04096° N, 78.87306° W) lies within an 1,880+ foot contour immediately adjacent to a highway. Bob Schwab's trip report describes the area, wherein he cites that a second area should be visited along a fenceline several hundred feet east depending on the exact new city boundaries.

Reports numbered 1 through 4 are no longer relevant, yet are retained for historical and personal interest.
