Bennington County High Point Trip Report

Equinox Mountain (3840+ ft)

Date: September 18, 2000
Author: Mike Schwartz

Equinox is the king of the Taconics, and a drive-up. Take Historic Route 7A (still shown on topo as US 7) south from Manchester to large sign at entrance to Mt Equinox toll road. The road does close for the winter, so call ahead if arriving in shoulder season. Pay the $6.00 for car and driver, $2.00 for extra passenger, and drive the easy 5.2 miles to the summit. Very nice views once the road opens up about a mile before the summit. I wandered around the flat summit area to ensure covering the highest ground. Definitely a low gear ride down.
