Washington County Highpoint Trip Report

Camels Hump (4,083 ft)

Date: July 1, 2004
Author: Mike Schwartz

Fred Lobdell's directions to Huntington Center and the turnoff for Camels Hump State Park are still good. However, things have changed along the approach road from there.

Once on the approach road, go 0.5 mile to a signed right turn to the Camels Hump. In another 0.6 mile, bear right where Fielder Road goes left. Go another 0.8 mile to a small parking area and the Forest City trailhead. There is no longer a right fork and the trail begins right there. If you want to use the longer Forest City Trail to the Camels Hump or do a loop hike, you should continue on another 0.7 mile to the end of the road and a large parking lot for the Burrows Trail, because you will see a sign there for a 0.1 mile connecting trail to the Forest City Trail, making for a more convenient loop.
