Columbia County High Point Trip Report

Date: July 2001
Author: Barney Metz

We drove from Diamond Peak down into the Tucannon River Drainage. We proceeded upriver past Camp Wooten to FS 4620. We headed west on FS 4620 to FS 46 and turned left and headed South to Godman Campground. Out of Godman take FS 4608 to the end of the line a parking lot with a latrine. There you will find the signed trailhead for a three-mile jaunt to Oregon Butte.

The trail is easy and well maintained. We hiked to Oregon Butte and they have a log house lookout. Surprisingly we were one of many people to have made it to Oregon Butte that day. We were in the teens as far as number of visitors. We walked around the planking on the house and the land to the north of the lookout, signed the register, and headed back on down.
