Grays Harbor County Highpoint Trip Report

"Wynoochee Point" (4,880+ ft)

Date: May 30, 2005
Author: Ken Russell

John Roper's unofficial name for this one, seems as good as any. We talked about naming it for the current Washington governor but we couldn't agree on who that was. Steve Lowrie and Trina Leaf came along to help drag me to the summit.

The approach went well from the washout and then the end of the spur. Upon reaching the first open area, around 4100 feet, we turned east-southeast and climbed up a steep chute to reach the ridge top around 4500 feet. I do not recommend it. Continuing east-northeast and then ascending south to the highpoint is a much better route - and we descended that way.

We found the HP register in good condition and were able to sign in.
