Skamania County High Point Trip Report

Drove FR 23 (good paved) to PCT. Hiked PCT to Dry Lake Camp and camped. Next day, N on PCT
with day pack, leaving PCT to go E up past The Hump and up easy slopes to Pinnacle Glacier area,
walked its S edge, then up ridge on boulders to and beyond PT 8940. Turned around about 9,100 ft.
PT 8940 is easy to find and verify, the lay of the land and shapes and positions of the glaciers being so
distinctive. No GPS or altimeter needed: I guarantee I was there.
Statistics: 12 hours, 16 miles, 5300 feet elevation gain.
I consider this a 5,000 ft gain HP.
