Forest County Highpoint Trip Report

Sugarbush Hill (1,939 ft)

Date: July 30, 2007
Author: Fred Lobdell

I followed Ron Tagliapietra' s report, which proved entirely accurate. I concur that the highest area is at the turnaround at the end of the road. There are a couple of boulders just into the woods on the east side that are candidates for the HP. I found only the footings for the lookout tower.

I stayed the night in a generic motel (Four Seasons) on US 8 on the west side of Crandon, about 5 miles west of the HP. This proved to be surprisingly good for such an establishment and the price was very reasonable. I recommend the place to future CoHPers who find themselves in the area as night is falling. Unfortunately, eating establishments are hard to find in Crandon and I made do with a Subway sub.
