Dear Fellow County High Pointers:

I have not posted as actively over the last several months as previously because I had some difficulties with my Yahoo mail service and passwords that I found difficult to resolvetheir help online and otherwise is basically inaccessible.

But I have been actively high pointingcounty highpoints and otherwise (lots of p300s and some P1000s) and I thought people might want to read about it and find some reports useful. I have done 47 counties in the last six months. This included completion of both Rhode Island and Connecticut in roughly 72 hours in early May. Alan Bernier joined me on that excursion serving as a guide since he had done them all beforehis third completion of Rhode Island and second of Connecticut. We finished on the slope of Mt. Frissell. I guess I wanted a couple of states under my belt. Although I was approaching 300 completed counties, I had not yet completed a state. Perhaps picking two easy one like Rhode Island and Connecticut is close to cheating, but if anyone else out there is suffering from State Completion Deprivation Syndrome (SCDS), I recommend a quick trip to southern New England.

I post trip reports for virtually all of my ascents on Peakbagger, so if people want to see my trip reports I suggest you look there. Ill list the completed counties below. In only a handful of cases did I experience anything that deviated from or added to previous reports. Ill note those.

Ohio:
Richland
Morrow
Ashland
Coshocton
Greene
Warren
Kentucky:
Trimble
Woodford
Nelson
Crittenden
Caldwell
Livingston
WVA.:
Wood
Wirt
Jackson
Upshur
RI.:
All
Connecticut:
All
Ma.:
Bristol
Pa.:
Union
Montour
Va.:
Waynesboro (new I had already done the old one)
Il.:
Union
Mo.:
Carter
Scott
Cape Giradeau
Dunklin
New Madrid
Ark.:
Jackson
Sebastian/Scott
Fulton
Sharp
Randolph
Ok.:
Beckham
Tx.:
Oldham

Unsuccessful attempt: Jackson, Ill.the owner started shrieking at me to go away as I exited my car (parked on the public highway) before I had even set foot in her driveway to approach the house to ask permission. This one may be an access problem in the futurefrustrating since its only a small bump a few yards up the driveway from the state road.

Others: Washington, RI.:
Alan Bernier and I had an altercation with the property owner at Washington, RI. upon our exit. Alan describes the incident in detail in his Paekbagger report.

Waynesboro, Va.: Bob Schwabs recent accurate report doesnt give any indication of distance and elevation gain for the route he and I took: its about mi. each way and slightly less than 500 feet elevation gain. A closer but potentially dangerous route may be possible from the main highway.

Beckham. Ok. My report posted on Peakbagger adds some details to Bob Packards old report.

My peakbagger reports add some minor wrinkles in a few other cases, but its amazing to me how little has changed from most prior reports even those that are as much as 15 years old.

Finally Id like to issue an open invitation to any highpointers who may be close to Taos NM between now and late August to visit me there.
