Called the Blue Mountain Forest Association at 603-863-3250 and reached the park superintendent Alan. Alan informed me that the park is closed to all visitors. I asked him about Gerry/Jerry referred to in other trip reports and he said Gerry doesn't work there anymore (since two years ago), and furthermore, that the "rumors" of people being allowed to visit for $50 fee were illegal. Alan says he answers only to the Board of Directors, but didn't provide any information on how to contact them. Alan says that they don't want to take the risk of someone falling down and getting killed by a wild boar, among other reasons. Sorry to report this bad news!

Gerry retired 2 years ago and I haven't heard of any groups being allowed in since.

After access reopened I tried to convince people that this association is very secretive and they should not post anything about their trips on the Internet. Of course that didn't work including one guy who insisted every county needed a trip report on cohp.org. While the Board of Directors had in fact approved access in the past, apparently one director (new?) didn't know until he read about it on the Internet and got access suspended until they could study it. I don't know if they actually discussed anything or just let the suspension stick. Gerry enjoyed showing hikers around, I'm not sure if the new manager dislikes hikers or is just new at the job and following orders.

Obviously it is possible to sneak up this peak but I don't recommend it. In addition to the elk and boar wandering around, there are numerous employees and others working in the park including perhaps a fire lookout on the summit. Their hunting seasons are different from regular hunting seasons and hunting pressure is intense even though they feed the wild animals to create greater than usual density. Several years ago one hunter shot another dead and he was acquitted of murder because being a private game park he didn't expect another hunter hence apparently just shot at movement.

Apparently the weekend before hunting season the hunters come up to scout out the areas they have drawn and to clear the boundaries between. Often they bring guests to help and show them the park. If you know any wealthy hunters in New England, that might be your best access for now.
